Homemade Ketchup

Anyone who has ever been with me while I have eaten french fries knows of my intense love for ketchup. I love it. Best condiment, by far. But in the back of my mind I think about how much high fructose corn syrup is in it, along with many other delights, and it makes me want to cut back. Well, thanks to Skinny Taste, I will not have to worry about that any more. I am dying to try this newly posted recipe for homemade ketchup. It looks easy [definite plus] and I will be making this before we have our first cookout in our new home!

Toes in the water...

Toes in the sand...

This time tomorrow, I will be lounging at Garden City Beach with 10 of my closest friends. I can't wait to celebrate and enjoy the (hopefully) perfect beach weather!!

Pinning....

Pinterest takes on a whole new meaning when you have your own home to think about!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has been fully consuming my computer time. I have decided to take things one step at a time. First step is the back yard (obviously the most important. we are so practical), perhaps because it needs minimal TLC. I am so excited to have a little garden (thank you, previous owners!) so I can step right in and pretend I grew those tomatoes that are about to bloom. Ha.
Next step is the sun room, the upstairs bedroom and the upstairs bath. If you see me on pinterest, I am slowly trying to decide what my life is going to look like over the next few months...

On a side note, we are SO excited to be right down the street from our favorite newlyweds, Mary and Blair!!(shameless promo for RJ Rockers there)

Hello, Greenville!! We are almost there!

Reminiscing....

First of all, I had to look up how to spell "reminiscing"

Second of all, I saw this today and just had to share. I think number 38 is my favorite. I was, as I'm sure many others were, thoroughly in love with *NSYNC. Even then, Justin was the main man, but in that picture in #38, they are all looking quite dapper in their overalls (were those really that cool back then??? yikes.)

I know being 26 is not that old, but it is funny to think about the fact that 1995 was 17 years ago. In my mind, the 90's are still just a few years ago....

They were the epitome of American.
Duh, *NSYNC totally ruled over BSB.

I have no words. The hair, the jackets, the turtlenecks.

Bye, Bye, Bye!

Less than 50 days...

Less than 50 days until we get married! And in the last 50 days, I got a job!!!! What a relief to have that set in stone and not have to worry about finances as soon as we are married. Next step: find a place to live, or it's hello to the soon to be in-law's basement! (Just kidding, we would really go live with Mary and Blair. That okay with you guys?)

In other news, I have successfully grown a basil plant!!! Some of my basil leaves were used for the first time over the weekend in some homemade bruschetta. (Notice I didn't say that I made it. But someone else did and I ate it, so that counts right?) It was delicious and I am so proud of my green thumb!! I think it had a lot to do with the soil my mom recommended and some diligent watering, but hey, I did it! Next up is growing rosemary!
Happy hump day everyone!!

Y'all.

It's been over a month since I posted. Not for a lack of things to post about, but purely for a lack of time (and the fact that I am broke/cheap and have no internet at home....hello 1995).

The main happenings...

In less than 100 days, I am getting married. Super awesome and super excited.

In less than 10 days, I am going on spring break. Hallelujah, and praise the lord for babysitting and therefore my free spring break trip to Florida.

Hopefully somewhere in between those 10 and 100 days, I will get a job for next fall teaching. Everyone keep your fingers crossed, I know I am.

Fun fact--Just heard on the news that today in history, the very first tweet was posted 6 years ago.

tweet tweet.

Movies

I know everyone is sad over the death of Whitney Houston, as am I. All I can say is, if you haven't ever seen the movie The Bodyguard, now is the time to do it. This is one of my top 5 all time favorite movies. You can't deny that Whitney and Kevin Costner made a niiiice looking couple. And especially when this movie came out in 1992, when inter-racial relationships were still quite taboo, it made it seem a little scandalous and all that jazz. Even more appealing. Go buy/rent it immediately to honor the late, great Whitney.

I also just saw the movie Bridesmaids. I know I am kind of late in the game, but I thought this movie was quite funny. If you are a fan of the show The New Girl then I think you would like this movie because it had a lot of the same "awkward" funny, along with some bathroom humor, which always makes me laugh. Watching this movie also made me very thankful that all my bridesmaids get along and are friends!!

Happy weekending!

A new trend

Have you heard of this new trend? It's called "drop crotch pants." Yep. I am not making this up. The article on msnbc asks if this trend is hot or horrible. I'm going to go with an all out horrible.
It looks like she has pooped in her pants and it made them hang down. No thank you.

So, hot or horrible?

Kids say the darndest things

Bill Cosby had it right when he did that tv show.

How do you not laugh when an 8 year old looks at you, so seriously, and says, "I need to take a leak real bad."??? I find that it is nearly impossible. I love my students where I am student teaching. I really wish there was a way to keep track of all the funny things they say, because they crack me up all day long!

I'm still here

I swear.

After a two week trip to Italy and Greece (more to come, mainly pictures, soon), I have hit the ground running with school. Currently doing a 40 hour clinical in the next 9 days and then I start my student teaching on Feb. 1st! Woohoo!

More to come soon.

PS- In case you were wondering, the after-lunch entertainment in the classroom today was seeing who could pass the loudest and/or smelliest gas. Let me tell you how fun that was for myself and the other teachers once we realized what was going on. Gotta love 3rd, 4th and 5th grade boys!
